The Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI) has over 32,000 members engaging with its online certification courses and exams, registering for events, purchasing products, paying annual dues, and maintaining their profiles. The organization needed a business management platform that could keep up.
The leadership team at PSIA-AASI wanted a flexible, custom software platform that would allow them to build the specific functionality their operations required, as well as easily maintain the system and add features as needed.
Core components of the new platform include association management (AMS), customer relationship management (CRM), learning management (LMS), event management, e-commerce, accounting/billing, and reporting.
"With the changing dynamics of online learning, which is a huge component of what we offer our members, we really needed more flexibility."
The PSIA-AASI team first engaged Orange Bees to conduct an analysis and create a scorecard with the pros and cons and costs associated with various options. Tom Spiess, PSIA-AASI’s CFO, shares, “The Orange Bees team helped us think through the best way to accomplish each of our goals and figure out how we could better serve our members.”
Within the first year of use, PSIA-AASI improved efficiency and achieved cost savings. And the team is receiving excellent feedback from members. The platform allowed them to pace ahead for renewals, even during the pandemic, and offering a digital membership card saved the organization $20,000 in mailing costs. Because the platform integrates with PayPal’s Braintree service, members can opt to set up installment payments that are auto charged to their credit cards, with all the data visible in the platform. At the same time, the chapters are sharing a low processing fee rate. Additionally, the flexibility of the system has allowed the organization to create new integrations in-house.
